Another 800m stock netting fencing completed today

We completed a further 800m of stock netting fencing, along with gates, just outside Devizes along the famous Wansdyke in Wiltshire to protect it from damage by cattle.
Well done Toby, Ian, George and Brian

“This 5th or 6th Century defensive ditch and bank runs from Morgan’s Hill near Bishops Canning to Savernake Forest near Marlborough.
Named Woden’s Dyke after the Saxon god, Woden, the Wansdyke was constructed at a time when history was not often written down and there is little archaeological evidence to add clues.  It was most likely made by the Britons as a defensive earthwork to keep out the Saxons invading from the North.  Up on the Marlborough Downs some of the impressive two-metre high banks remain in place to this day.”

Closing the gate on another few thousand metres of stock fence near Devizes

Here we’re closing the gate on 1,700 metres of stock fence near Coate, with gates and kissing gates for access and creosote-treated timber for durability.

Not much fun in the sun with those posts!
All undertaken using our Protech Evo 3.

Great job by Toby and Ian

Replacement gates for West Lavington Parish Council

Replacement gates were erected today for West Lavington Parish Council.
The gates are sited at the entrance to the Remembrance Avenue of trees planted to commemorate 25 members of the village who went to serve their country in WW1 but did not return.
The site lies between the village and Salisbury Plain military training estate.

50m domestic close board 1.8m high in Westwood

Our task here was to replace a fence which adjoins a farmer’s field.  So we had first to liaise with the farmer to find the right time for when no cattle were in residence. We then had a considerable job in clearing a large amount of old timber and chainlink fence along with the old hedge, conifers and bushes.

The total fence was 50m long approx. x 1.8m close board.  Also included was a gate which now allows easy access to the field for the owners and their dogs.

Pair of steel and chain link gates with a 6m span

Erecting these massive steel gates is the conclusion to work we have carried out for Wessex Water at their Gillingham sewage treatment plant over the last year.   These gates are steel and chain link to match the fence which we constructed last year.
