Tree reductions in Westbury needing Chapter 8 traffic control

Today we were cutting 300m of various overhanging trees back over the main road in Westbury and will continue for the rest of the week.

The work needs “stop and go” boards for traffic control.  Because the Conservation Contractors team are qualified to  “Chapter 8” requirements, they are able to manage the traffic control in-house.

The Department for Transport has a comprehensive guide for traffic signs and management. Chapter 8 of this guide is called ‘Traffic Safety Measures and Signs for Road Works and Temporary Situations’. This is commonly referred to as the “Chapter 8 guidelines”.

Equestrian Centre all-weather riding surface

Our video clip here shows mixing in fibres for our Lavington equestrian project.  The riding surface is sand with recycled fibres mixed in to give a high-quality riding surface in all-weather conditions. They are then spread on top and then mixed into the sand.

Equestrian Arena in Lavington, near Devizes

A few images from this week’s equestrian arena build near Devizes which is a 20m x30m school where we reduced the site and put down drainage in Geotex membrane and stone.

Woven Geotextiles are made from 100% polypropylene or polyester and have long been specified by marine engineers, civil engineers and landscape contractors for use in stabilising soil and aggregate layers.

Close board fencing and hardwood iroko timber gates in Marlborough

Our client had just purchased the house in Marlborough and our brief was to make the garden dog-proof and a little more private with a small length of close board fencing (8m). In addition, we installed new hardwood iroko timber gates and oak posts; curved heel is the higher side of the gate to give a diagonal brace –  just different! And we created an area to make a secluded bin store.   Iroko is a highly durable timber with a medium oily texture.  It is frequently referred to as African Teak due to its durability and appearance.
