30 new tree guards were erected in Longleat Estate Parkland to protect the trees from grazing cattle.

25m lime tree removal
Alex and the team were in Box last week :
We were tasked by WCC to remove a 25m lime tree as it was impacting on the walls and local buildings.
As seen in the video, it was a really tricky job to lower all the limbs to avoid damaging anything on the way down.
All the timber and brash had to be carried by hand through the gravestones to the chipper, 200m away, as no access close by. Lime timber is not good for firewood, so off to biomass with the woodchip.
A great job done by all, especially in this heat!

There’s also room for tools and all the bits and bobs you need for fencing. It is a one-off bespoke fencing trailer supplied by GA Trailers Ltd in N Ireland and we feature on their Facebook page here:
Drone footage of the solar farm project near Melksham
This drone footage follows on from the earlier posts by Tristan and Toby, who have been fencing on the Solar Farm Project site in Melksham over the past few months.
We were tasked with erecting 13,000m of fencing around 16 separate compartments.
The site looks very different now – this footage taken just before the main construction works commences.

Then we were unrolling Solonet deer wire/tensioner with Tornado 450 m rolls of deer netting – making life a little easier.
Team outing to Thruxton Karting in June
This was our work’s go-kart racing outing for the morning at Thruxton last month. It turns out that being small and light is a distinct advantage! It was great fun and much harder work than it looks. We now all appreciate far more the skill and stamina of F1 drivers !!
And, we weren’t even sure this was any cooler than working in the heat at the moment. However, it was great fun chasing around Thruxton Karting Centre.
Well done to Dale, who won the final by 11 seconds.
Another 800m stock netting fencing completed today
We completed a further 800m of stock netting fencing, along with gates, just outside Devizes along the famous Wansdyke in Wiltshire to protect it from damage by cattle.

“This 5th or 6th Century defensive ditch and bank runs from Morgan’s Hill near Bishops Canning to Savernake Forest near Marlborough.
Named Woden’s Dyke after the Saxon god, Woden, the Wansdyke was constructed at a time when history was not often written down and there is little archaeological evidence to add clues. It was most likely made by the Britons as a defensive earthwork to keep out the Saxons invading from the North. Up on the Marlborough Downs some of the impressive two-metre high banks remain in place to this day.”
